As a parent, you are the missing link in your child’s sex education. Talking openly helps with safeguarding, improves mental health and strengthens the parent-child connection. Sex ed begins at home – and it’s one of the most important jobs in the world!

“When parts of our bodies go undescribed, we often feel they are wrong or forbidden. Outspoken Sex Ed is a step toward universality and acceptance – for ourselves and for each other”

– feminist icon Gloria Steinem

Actor Kate Winslet, age 48, on body image and having been body shamed

“[About having an eating disorder] ‘I never told anyone about it. Because people around you go: “You look great! You lost weight!” So even the compliment about looking good is connected to weight.

That is one thing I will not let people talk about. I pull them up straightaway.

When I was younger, my agent would get calls saying: “How’s her weight?” I kid you not.

So it’s heartwarming that this has started to change”

Kate Winslet calls Ozempic “terrible” as she opens up about past eating disorder (Independent, 9/3/24)

“Misinformation about sex has always been part of teenage life. But today, with pornography and social media, young people are exposed to a tsunami of false and damaging ideas and information. It’s therefore our duty to provide young people with a healthy counter-narrative. The work of Outspoken – which provides resources for parents and teachers to have open, honest conversations about sex and relationships – is therefore more crucial than ever

Incredibly helpful. I feel much better equipped to deal with what I thought would be awkward conversations – actually I don’t think they are at all!
